How Can I Get Rid Of Old Furniture
It doesn't always make sense to hire a junk removal company. Whether you are constrained by budget or willing to break a sweat there are multiple options to dispose of furniture yourself.

-
Never Do It Alone - No matter how much you have been going to the gym NEVER attempt to move furniture alone.
-
Proper Equipment - Some furniture pieces can be very heavy. If you feel like you don't have enough manpower, rent or purchase dollies or hand trucks. They make moving heavy items much easier. Always check the weight rating before usage.
-
Prep for Removal - If possible always disassemble furniture. The more pieces you can break it down into the more maneuverable and lighter it will be. If you are planning to donate, put any hardware into a Ziploc or plastic bag and secure it to the furniture so that it can later be reassembled.
-
Prep Home - If you are worried about scuffs or bumps, wrap the corners or any sharp edges to prevent hard contact. You can also put down old cardboard boxes (many stores will be happy to give you free cardboard boxes) or old linens to protect your floors.
-
Disposal - Some municipalities provide curbside pickup for bulk items and brown goods. If yours doesn't you will have to dispose of the furniture yourself. At a bare minimum, you will need to own, borrow, or rent a pickup truck. If the furniture is still in good condition you can donate it. If not look for the closest recycling center to you that accepts your type of furniture. Lastly, you can take it to your county landfill (and usually) dump it for free if you are a resident.
